April 1, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) - “Tasha” couldn’t believe it. Wasn’t it just five years ago that she’d barely made it through her first pregnancy on account of many serious health issues? Although she’d delivered a healthy baby girl, she had also promised herself she would never allow another pregnancy. The fear, panic and medical expenses were too difficult to endure a second time.
But here she was…pregnant once again. Tasha thought about the last pregnancy and all of the health issues that had accompanied it. She also thought about the baby’s father. Their relationship was growing more tenuous by the day. Tasha couldn’t imagine that he’d want to have a baby with her. Not now…maybe never.
“I found myself considering all of the options available to me,” Tasha recalls, as she thinks back on those first few days after taking the pregnancy test. Uncertain about her future, Tasha turned to the same place where millions of women in similar circumstances turn every year regarding their unplanned pregnancies: the Internet.
Tasha remembers that initial contact, “I searched online and found a phone number. I called and got the address and put it in my GPS.” Upon arriving at the life-affirming pregnancy center, Tasha received a free pregnancy test and a sonogram. “I was also counseled about all of the options available to me,” recalls Tasha, “But I left feeling uncertain about what to do.”
Tasha didn’t go straight home after her appointment. Instead, she drove aimlessly as she mulled over everything the volunteer at the life-affirming pregnancy center had shared with her. That’s when she decided to use her GPS to locate another clinic. Fortunately, the GPS directed her to a second life-affirming pregnancy center, where Tasha was greeted by a compassionate staff member and received another sonogram.
Like before, she left this second life-affirming pregnancy center still feeling uncertain about the future of her pregnancy.
Days later and still undecided, Tasha once again got in her car and searched her GPS for another clinic where she could further explore her options. Upon arriving at the same life-affirming pregnancy center she’d first visited, Tasha remembers laughing to herself, “I decided then that God was trying to tell me something.”
After meeting with the caring and compassionate staff for a second time, Tasha realized there was only one decision to make for her unborn child…LIFE. “The center staff and I decided my GPS was a ‘God Positioning System.’”
As expected, Tasha’s second pregnancy was as difficult as the first, and she found herself praying for a healthy and safe delivery. “The reward arrived on September 11, in the form of a beautiful baby girl that we named Bethany,” recalls Tasha.
Tasha’s story is a poignant reminder that regardless of the fear and uncertainty that rattles a woman’s heart when facing an unplanned pregnancy, the bonds of motherhood are intrinsically stronger. That’s why pro-life organizations like Online for Life are so necessary. By leveraging the Internet, Online for Life is able to help women in their time of need — searching online about abortion. Women are then guided to their local life-affirming pregnancy center where they are empowered to embrace the role of motherhood, even when circumstances are difficult.
Every day, thousands of women like Tasha turn to the Internet searching for answers. With a presence in 23 states nationwide, Online for Life strives to connect with each woman before she makes a tragic and irreparable decision. Through this process, Online for Life has managed to help rescue 1733 unborn babies and their families, and that number increases every day.
Some may call it luck that Tasha ended up at a life-affirming pregnancy center not once, but three times. Some may call it a coincidence. But for Tasha, she knows the truth. “God is in control and He does know best,” she laughs. “I can’t imagine my life without either one of my beautiful girls.”
